Miami is a very large spread out city, and there are numerous areas worthy of exploring. Undoubtedly the best way to get around is by car, however if you are in the mood for an adventure we do have a public transportation system, which included citywide buses and a metro rail, which has a connection near the Atelier. South Beach is located 25 minutes by car(except during rush hour!). Downtown Miami is about 10 minutes by car, and that is where Miami Art Museum and the Historical Museum are located. The Planetarium and Science Museum are a scant 5 minutes away, as is Vizcaya a wonderful period estate open to the public on the bay. There is also an exceptional Museum on the University of Miami campus, The Lowe, about a 5 minute drive, and well worth it. Merrick Park is one block from the Atelier, this is Miami's newest shopping complex, complete with Nordstoms, Neiman Marcus, and about 120 other shoppes and restaurants to while away the hours. There are constantly festivals, and outdoor events to participate in here in Miami

Key Biscayne has a wonderful natural state park voted one of the 10 best beaches in the world there is also a wildlife refuge and nature center as well as hikes, reef walks, bicycle trails, haywagon rides, and outback adventures all in the park area. There is also Kiteboarding with lessons available along the causeway coming onto the Key.

You may want to take a moment to check out www.Miami.com for an ongoing update of what is going on in the city.
