Indirect Method- Glass tabletop setting!

This 2 day class focuses on the indirect method with glass tesserae. You will learn the how to use the correct tooling for working with glass, as well as how to obtain smooth, safe surfaces in your mosaic creations. All Materials & tooling provided. This class may also be taken during studio hours (Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.or Tuesdays 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.) you must register for the starting class.)

3-D Mosaic Sculpture

Intensive Class or like experience
In this 3 day class we will explore sculptural armitage and how to create infrastructures to be mosaiced for both indoors and out! We will also work on choosing the perfect tesserae to compliment your sculpture. Materials & tooling provided. This class may be taken during studio hours (Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) or Tuesdays (5 p.m. to 9 p.m.) however you must register for the starting class date- this class will be 5 sessions.

Fused Glass Mosaic Inclusions

Beginner through Advanced
Join Marcie Davis in creating your own fused glass inclusions! Give your mosaic creations a personal touch. Learn the processes involved and what makes an effective design. Use frits, stringers, and stained glass elements in creating your own fused glass tesserae!

Intensive mosaic class

This 5 full day course will incorporate both the direct and indirect methods of application, as well as the classical setting techniques. Extensive exploration into materials, as well as cutting techniques for smalti and marble are learned. This class is the basis for Architectural, Craft, and Fine Art mosaic studies. The students will take home three projects. Often the students projects will have a market value higher that the course cost! All materials & tools provided.

Introduction to Mosaics- Direct Method

Beginner or Refresher Course!
During this class you will dive head long into creating a mosaic mirror! (Ofcourse, this is with the guidance of your very capable instructor!) We will work with ceramic and porcelain tiles, though you will learn about different types of tesserae and tooling as well! You will learn a direct method setting technique which can be used for many different projects and applications! This type of setting can also be used in creating picaessiette, or shard art! All materials and tooling are provided. This class may also be taken during studio hours (Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or Tuesdays 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.), however you must register for the initial class, this will be a 4 session class.

Master's Class - Ongoing Open Registration

Prerequisite: Intensive Workshop
This 5 day class will incorporate both contemporary and classical setting techniques. The class will be based on incorporating diverse setting techniques, including the double reverse method to achieve characteristics of a master artist or style. We will discuss on an individual basis the direction your project will take before the class. This class must be reserved on a private basis.

Workshops may be taken during studio hours! Create in a studio environment! $8.00 per hour charge (or $75/ for a 10 hour card) will cover adhesives,grout,and use of tools. There will be a knowledgable instructor available in the studio. Tesserae and supplies must be purchased at the Studio. It is suggested that you register for studio hours in advance though walk-ins will be taken space available. Workshops must be register in advance!

This 1 day class will focus on mosaics with ancient Roman style and a contemporary American spin! Create jewelry and small murals using smalti filati, flameworked inclusions,sead beads, and millifiori. All materials and tooling included. This class may also be taken during studio hours (Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or Tuesdays 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.), however you must register for the initial class, this will be a 3 session class.

Mixed Media -Fine Art Mosaics

"Smalti Fine Art Mosaics" In this 5 day class we will let go of the mystique of working with smalti, byzantine glass, millifiori, & marble! You will work on a 2-D fine art mosaic, exploring different fine art mosaic setting options available to both classical and contemporary styles. We will also focus on learning proper techniques with Martellino & Hardie for precision in cutting! All Materials & tooling provided. This class may also be taken during studio hours (Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or Tuesdays 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.), however you must register for the initial class, this will be a 12 session class.

Learn about the art of making "cartoons" or designs for your mosaic creations. We will take interesting large scale projects and create to scale mock-ups for clients, as well as work on full scale versions. This 3-day class focuses on the business of mosaics, and the design and creation of wall installations. We will work together, hands-on creating a mural for your portfolio! You will leave with an understanding of the design, calculations, and applications of creating a wall mural.
